Pick: Rangers
Rangers (Holland) vs Orioles (Hunter)
In the second game of the doubleheader the Rangers face former teammate Tommy Hunter. The Orioles are so over-matched when they play good teams like the Rangers that I just don't see them winning. They might win one of these games but I am going with the Rangers to get the sweep. With the way the offense is rolling right now it is tough to pick against them.
Pick: Rangers
Rays (Price) vs Yankees (Sabathia)
Much like the matchup between Johnny Cueto and Zack Greinke yesterday, Price and Sabathia are 2 pitchers that I usually pick and now they are going against each other. David Price is 3-0 against C.C Sabathia in his career, and I predict he will make it 4-0 with another win today. I like the Rays to get this one.
Pick: Rays
Nationals (Strasburg) vs Pirates (Correia)
The last time the Stephen Strasburg faced the Pittsburgh Pirates it was his major league debut and he struck out 14 in 7 innings. Now, almost 2 years later he needs to get the win today to stop the bleeding for the Nationals. I have confidence that Strasburg will get the job done. So much confidence that I am making this my lock of the day.
Pick: Nationals. This is my lock of the day.
Indians (Lowe) vs Red Sox (Beckett)
Josh Beckett is in the middle of another controversy, supposedly going golfing when he was going to mix his next start because of back issues. Just another thing the Red Sox have to worry about. They are being opposed by Derek Lowe, the hero for them in the 2004 World Series. He will get the win today, but against the Red Sox not for them.
Pick: Indians
Blue Jays (Alvarez) vs Twins (Marquis)
Henderson Alvarez has been a pleasant surprise for the Blue Jays as he has been pitching deep into games and has been firing fastballs all over the stadium. Facing a offense in the Minnesota Twins has to have him salivating. I like the Blue Jays to win the opener and for the Twins to continue struggling hitting the ball hard.
Pick: Blue Jays
Tigers (Scherzer) vs Athletics (Colon)
The Detroit Tigers have to be happy they are no longer playing the Mariners. Seeing Bartolo Colon might not make it any easier on them. Colon has been a strike throwing machine for the Athletics. Detroit has alternated wins and losses the last 10 games and lost yesterday. I think the streak ends and the lose again today. I like Colon in this one.
