Royals (Mendoza) vs Indians (Tomlin)
Kansas City won for the first time in 2 weeks yesterday as they snapped a 12 game losing streak by beating Cleveland. Now the rubber match of the series is today and Kansas City is looking to win back to back games in Cleveland and win a series for the first time since the opening 3-game set against the Angels. They will not get it. Indians win.
Pick: Indians
Giants (Vogelsong) vs Reds (Bailey)
Ryan Vogelsong tries to stop the bleeding as San Francisco looks to win their first game in Cincinnati in almost 2 years on Thursday. The Reds will counter with Homer Bailey, who has not lived up to his ace billing that he was anointed with on draft day. I predict that today the Giants will get rid of their demons and finally beat the Reds in Cincinnati.
Pick: Giants
Mariners (Noesi) vs Tigers (Porcello)
The Mariners are going for a sweep today at the hands of the Tigers. They have done it behind the strength of their offense. (man that was weird to write) The Mariners have pounded out 15 hits in each of the last 2 games, but they are facing one of their nemeses in Rick Porcello. I think the Tigers win today to salvage the final game of the series.
Pick: Tigers
Angels (Williams) vs Rays (Moore)
The Tampa Bay Rays are going for the sweep today and they are turning to rookie Matt Moore to get it for them. The Angels continue to struggle and Albert Pujols is obviously pressing at the plate. I predict that the Rays will get the sweep today. In fact this game is my lock of the day. Lost the last 2 with the lock of the day so we need to turn it around.
Pick: Rays. This is my lock of the day.
Marlins (Nolasco) vs Mets (Niese)
Miami is struggling to hit the ball in the midst of a 5-game losing streak and now they face Jonathon Niese who has a quality start in every outing this year. I know my history of picking games involving the New York Mets has been lackluster to start the year but I am picking them to win today.
Pick: Mets
Blue Jays (Hutchison) vs Orioles (Matusz)
Brian Matusz has lost his last 12 decision for Baltimore and he looks to turn it around against Toronto, a team that Baltimore has owned so far in 2012. I know that I have picked Toronto in both games so far but I just don't think Brian Matusz has the mental makeup to be a good pitcher. He is in his own right now. Blue Jays win.
Pick: Blue Jays
Red Sox (Doubront) vs White Sox (Humber)
Phillip Humber takes the mound for the first time since pitching his perfect game against the Mariners. On a side note I was thinking of going to that game and now regret that I didn't. I will probably never be that close to perfection again. Anyways I think Humber will continue to ride his hot streak and Chicago will win.
Pick: White Sox
Nationals (Jackson) vs Padres (Volquez)
If the Washington Nationals have a weak link in their pitching staff it is Edwin Jackson. Meanwhile Edinson Volquez has got to be happy he isn't opposing another ace, having already pitched against Roy Halladay and Clayton Kershaw twice. I predict that the Padres will win today and at least win one game in the series.
Pick: Padres
