LAA 6, BAL 3

Reds 9 Cubs 4 (Win)

The Cincinnati Reds got 4 runs in the first inning off of Chris Volstad and never looked back.  Homer Bailey, always a funny name for a pitcher if you ask me, was given the lead and never looked back in earning his first win of the year.  The Cubs continue to struggle as they are playing their N.L Central rivals and are getting nothing to show for it.

Yankees 6 Red Sox 2 (Win)

The Yankees won today behind 5 solo home runs from the offense and solid pitching from Ivan Nova to win the opener of the series against their rivals.  Eric Chavez hit 2 home runs, and Alex Rodriguez, Russell Martin, and Nick Swisher all hit one as well as the Yankees used their offense to help Ivan Nova win his 15th straight decision.

Nationals 2 Marlins 0 (Loss)

Carlos Zambrano did pitch well enough to get the win, but his offense let him down to get the loss against the Nationals.  Washington continues to get outstanding starting pitching and shut down the marlins offense completely today.  The Marlins could only muster 4 hits against Detwiler and 3 relievers combined to shut down the Marlins offense and confuse the hell out of them.

Cardinals 4 Pirates 1 (Win)

The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates today to win my lock of the day  They won it by shutting down the putrid Pirates offense and getting just enough of their own to win.  Lance Lynn once again was amazing in earning his third win of the season, and when Chris Carpenter comes back St. Louis will have a tough decision to make on who to send to the bullpen.

Rangers vs Tigers

This game was postponed and will be made up as a day night double header tomorrow.

Twins 5 Rays 4 (Loss)

The Minnesota Twins got just enough timely hitting to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays in the opener of their series at Tropicana Field.  Even though they didn't get a home run they did scratch enough runs against Matt Moore to win the game and take the opener of the series.

Giants 4 Mets  (Loss)

What the hell am I supposed to do with the Mets?  I can't pick with them because they will lose and I can't pick against them because they will win. I honesty have no idea what to do at this point.  Today the Giants got just enough pitchingf from Barry Zito and wn the game in the tenth inning.  The Mets had a chance to win it when they loaded the bases but coul not get a run across and lost the game.

Dodgers 3 Astros 1 (Win)

Matt Kemp hit a 2-run home run in the first inning and three more hits to raise his season average to .481, as he led the Dodgers to a win over the Astros.  Neither team really did much damage offensively, but Kemp's home run was the difference in the game for the Dodgers  Javy Guerra came in and got his seventh save already in this short season.

Rockies 4 Brewers 3 (Loss)

The Colorado Rockies got a run off of John Axford in the ninth inning to win the game against the Brewers in the first beer bowl game of the season.  Todd Helton hit a home run for the Rockies and Troy Tulowitzki had 2 hits a day after being benche because he was struggling both offensively and defensively.  It was good to see him turn it around today.

Blue Jays 4 Royals 3 (Win)

The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Kansas City Royals today to help keep the Royals winless at home so far this season.  the lue Jays scored  3 runs in the eighth inning to take a 4-2 lead and held on to win 4-3.  Mike Moustakas hit a home run for the Royals but it was not enough for Kansas City, who is now 0-7 at Kauffman Stadium.

Braves 9 Diamondbacks 1 (Loss)

Obviously I was wrong about the Braves.  They can hit good pitching.  That is all.

Angels 6 Orioles 3 (Loss)

The first time this year I pick against the Angels and they win the game.  I don't know what to do with this team.  I think that they will eventually be good and apparently it is happening sooner than I thought after the horrendous start they have had this year.  Albert Pujols still his not hit a home run for the Angels after signing that lucrative contract and I think he is pressing a bit in trying to hit that first home run for the Angels.

Indians 4 Athletics 3 (Win)

Ubaldo Jiminez shut down the Oakland Athletics and the Cleveland Indians took the opener of the series against the Oakland Athletics.  Jiminez did struggle with his control as he walked 5 hitters, but he did pitch 6 innings and only allowed 2 runs tonight.  Yoenis Cespedes did strike out once today to bring his major league lead total to 18

Phillies 4 Padres 1 (Win)

Cole Hamels and the Philadelphia Phillies continue to make the San Diego Padres offense look bad as they held them to 1 run in winning tonight.  Cole Hamels was the reason why the Phillies won tonight, as he outpitched Edinson Volquez to win the game tonight.  The Padres offense continues to be just awful and it is a good thing the weather is so nice down there.

White Sox 7 Mariners 3 (Loss)

Adam Dunn hit 2 home runs for the White Sox, who spoiled my perfect record for the Mariners when I go to the games.  Hector Noesi did not make it out of the second inning as he gave up 6 runs before recording 5 outs.  When you have an offense like the Mariners you can't fall behind by that much, and even though the Jesus Montero hit a home run and Ichiro had 2 RBI's it wasn't enough for the Mariners.

Days Record: 7-7                  Overall Record: 110-96                Lock of the Day Record: 10-5
