5-15 Predictions

Alright now that we got our bad stretch out of the way it is time to get back on that horse.  Going to win some ball games today.  Prediction time!

Astros (TBD) vs Phillies (Lee)

The Astros can't event ell you who is starting for them and the Phillies are throwing Cliff Lee.  I would call that a mismatch.  Anyone the Astros throw won't be as good as Cliff Lee and the Phillies are finally starting to hit the ball a little bit.  I am going to with the Phillies in this one as they look to regain their form that won them 5 straight division championships.

Pick: Phillies

Padres (Bass) vs Nationals (Strasburg)

I know that Strasburg is going to lose at some point.  It won't be today.  This is my lock.

Pick: Nationals. This is my lock of the day.

Indians (Lowe) vs Twins (Marquis)

Derek Lowe is looking like last year was an aberration as he is already over halfway to his win total from 2011.  With Minnesota looking like the worst team in all of baseball and Derek Lowe pitching like it is 2006 all over again I am going to go with the Indians to continue their success and beat the Twins again today.

Pick: Indians

Cubs (Maholm) vs Cardinals (Lohse)

Alright if Paul Maholm gets the win here today I will be a believer in him.  He is going up against Kyle Lohse who has pitched brilliantly so far this year.  I am picking Lohse and the Cardinals here today but if Paul Maholm somehow pulls off the win today than I will have no issues picking him from this day forward.  Ball is in your court Paul.

Pick: Cardinals

Tigers (Scherzer) vs White Sox (Peavy)

Jake Peavy has already faced the Tigers twice this year and is 1-0 against them, including a sterling start at home.  Peavy has also been pitching like he took a turn in a time machine this year, and that will continue today.  The Tigers are very inconsistent right now and Peavy will take full advantage of that in leading the White Sox to a win.

Pick: White Sox

Mariners (Beavan) vs Red Sox (Beckett)

I know that Boston is hot right now and the Mariners are struggling but I can't pick Josh Beckett until he gets his mind right.  Beckett has been abysmal both on and off the field for the Red Sox and even though the Mariners offense isn't great, he will struggle again today.  Meanwhile Blake Beavan has pitched better than his record indicates and he will get the win today.

Pick: Mariners

Yankees (Sabathia) vs Orioles (Chen)

Both of these starting pitchers come into this game with an unblemished record.  I think that one of them is going to get the loss today and I don't think it is going to be Sabathia.  I like the Yankees to continue to beat the Orioles and I think Baltimore will start to slide now.  It has been a nice run for 6 weeks but now the real Baltimore Orioles will start to show up.

Pick: Yankees

Athletics (Colon) vs Angles (Santana)

The Angels were shutout once again yesterday at the hands of Tyson Ross and the Athletics are going for the sweep by sending out Bartolo Colon today.  The Angels are countering with Ervin Santana, who finally got his first win of the season in his last start.  I see him getting his second in a row today as the Angels will get the win and split the brief 2-game series.

Pick: Angels

Rays (Price) vs Blue Jays (Alvarez)

David Price has 46 wins in his brief but brilliant career.  10 of those 46 wins have come against the Toronto Blue Jays.  His 2.13 ERA against the Blue Jays is his best against any team in baseball.  I can't argue with those numbers.  Price will continue his mastery of the Blue Jays and the Rays will once again get the win in Toronto.

Pick: Rays

Reds (Cueto) vs Braves (Hudson)

The regular readers of the blog know how much I like Tim Hudson.  I love his tenacity and he always seems to keep the Braves in games, even if he doesn't have his best stuff.  That being said, with the way Cueto is pitching right now I can't pick against him.  He has been lights out for the Reds all year and will do so again today.

Pick: Reds

Brewers (Greinke) vs Mets (Gee)

The Mets have been hot again lately and the hot hitting of Daniel Murphy is a big reason why.  He will be in for a tough challenge as the Mets look to keep the bats going against Greinke and the Brewers.  I don't see it happening.  I am going to with Greinke in this one and the Mets will lose.  I am as confident as I can be when picking against the Mets.

Pick: Brewers

Pirates (Correia) vs Marlins (Johnson)

Josh Johnson is still looking for his first win of the year and this is just the team to do it against.  Johnson has owned the Pirates in all 3 of his starts against them, and after finally pitching well in his last start he i slooking to break out of his funk and win the first game of the year.  I believe he will and it will be another low-scoring game because the Pirates are involved, but the Marlins will win.

Pick: Marlins

Royals (Mazzaro) vs Rangers (Lewis)

Both Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz have been swinging hot bats as of late and now get to face a pitcher in Vin Mazzaro who is making his first start of the year.  After getting beat by Bruce Chen yesterday I don't see anyway that the Rangers lose to the Royals again.  Texas will win this one and I don't think it will be close.

Pick: Rangers

Diamondbacks (Miley) vs Dodgers (Billingsley)

Chad Billingsley won his first 2 starts of the year and hasn't won since.  He has pitched well enough to win but his offense hasn't really done much to support him.   Now he faces Arizona as he looks for his third win of the season.  Wade Miley already has 3 wins and he wasn't even in the rotation at the start of the season.  I like Miley to get win #4 and the Diamondbacks to get the win.

Pick: Diamondbacks

Rockies (Guthrie) vs Giants (Lincecum)

Tim Lincecum has not looked very good this year and his worst outing was against the Rockies at Coors Field.  He tries to bounce back against Colorado at home, and it might be a little easier since Troy Tulowitzki is out of the lineup.  I still think Lincecum has good stuff and he will pitch his way out of this slump.

Pick: Giants
