5-2 Predictions

15 games today.  All 30 teams in action.  Let's get right to it.

Rangers (Harrison) vs Blue Jays (Romero)

Ricky Romero has been pitching outstanding for the Blue Jays and now faces his toughest test of 2012.  Even without Josh Hamilton in the lineup this offense is scary good, and causes most pitchers problems.  I think that Romero will be up the challenge and will defeat the Rangers, winning the series for Toronto.

Pick: Blue Jays

Royals (Sanchez) vs Tigers (Verlander)

Well this isn't fair.  This is my lock of the day.

Pick: Tigers. This is my lock of the day.

Mets (Schwinden) vs Astros (Rodriguez)

With a win today the Houston Astros will sweep a series from the Mets for the first time in 4 years.  Houston sends Wandy Rodriguez to the mound to get that sweep.  I still am having a rough time predicting Mets games but today I am confident that Wandy will pitch well and Houston will get the sweep.

Pick: Astros

Dodgers (Kershaw) vs Rockies (Pomeranz)

I am as big of a Drew Pomeranz fan as you will find.  That being said I am a bigger Clayton Kershaw fan.  The Dodgers will continue their winning ways and Kershaw will continue to dominate everyone he faces.  This kid is ridiculously good and will be in the running for a second consecutive Cy Young.

Pick: Dodgers

Brewers (Gallardo) vs Padres (Suppan)

This is the spot where Cory Leubke is supposed to start, but apparently the bandwagon that I started for him proved too heavy as he got injured.  In his place will be veteran Jeff Suppan, who is making his first start of the season.  He will be opposed by Yovani Gallardo, who looks to remain perfect at Petco Park. He will.

Pick: Brewers

Diamondbacks (Saunders) vs Nationals (Jackson)

Even though the Washington Nationals are leading the league in team ERA, the starting pitcher leading that category is Joe Saunders.  Saunders looks to continue his success against a Nationals offense that has been struggling so far.  I think that he will give up a run so his ERA will go up, but he will pitch well enough to get the win.

Pick: Diamondbacks

Orioles (Arrieta) vs Yankees (Nova)

The Baltimore Orioles finally beat the Yankees!! I can now in good conscious pick them to win.  That being said I am going with the Yankees here because Ivan Nova is pitching.  Nova must spike the water of the Yankee hitters because whenever he is on the mound they light up the scoreboard for him.

Pick: Yankees

Cubs (Samardzija) vs Reds (Arroyo)

What I said yesterday about this matchup: "The Cincinnati Reds are playing good baseball right now and the Cubs are not.  The Reds are giving the ball to Bronson Arroyo, who has had a lot of success against the Cubs in his career.  I think that Cincinnati will continue their torrid ways and beat Samardzija, and Bronson Arroyo will shut down the Cubs.  Reds win."  Still true.

Pick: Reds

Athletics (McCarthy) vs Red Sox (Bard)

McCarthy has pitched far better than his 1-3 record so far this year, while Daniel Bard has pitched far better when he has been in the bullpen.  I like the Athletics in this one because I do not trust Bard as a starter.  He needs to develop his third and fourth pitches if he is going deeper in the game, and right now he just doesn't have them.

Pick: Athletics

Phillies (Halladay) vs Braves (Hanson)

The only reason why the Phillies are playing .500 baseball right now is because of their pitching.  Now they are looking to get over .500 and are sending out ace Roy Halladay to the mound.  Halladay has been very good this year but is only 3-2 because he has gotten no run support.  I expect the Phillies to win today but behind Halladay and not the offense.

Pick: Phillies

Mariners (Beavan) vs Rays (Shields)

James Shields is looking to become the first 5 game winner in the majors, and if the Mariners can't hit the ball with runners on base he will get there.  Seattle has lost 4 games in a row and is 0-30 with runners in scoring position in those contests.  Now they face Shields who has been lights out so far this year.

Pick: Rays

Indians (Tomlin) vs White Sox (Humber)

Phillip Humber reverted back to the Phillip Humber everyone expected in his last start, getting ripped by the Boston Red Sox.  Now he faces a Cleveland Indians lineup that is not doing well but is welcoming Johnny Damon and is welcoming back Shin-Soo Choo.  Those 2 guys in that lineup will provide a boost, and the Indians will win.

Pick: Indians

Pirates (Burnett) vs Cardinals (Lynn)

The Lance Lynn bandwagon is getting full but still has a little bit of room if you jump on board.  Lynn, who wasn't even expected to be in the starting rotation at the beginning of the year, looks to improve to 5-0.  I believe that Lynn will get there as the Cardinals will win today.

Pick: Cardinals

Twins (Hendricks) vs Angels (Weaver)

The Angels are looking for their first 3 game winning streak of the season, and are turning to Jered Weaver to get there.  Weaver had his worst outing of the year against Minnesota but has pitched far better since.  I know I pick the Angels a lot but it looks like they are starting to get it turned around so I am going to pick them again.

Pick: Angels

Marlins (Zambrano) vs Giants (Zito)

Barry Zito has been one of the biggest surprises so far in 2012, and now he faces an offense that is looking to shake things up.  Even though the Marlins won yesterday manager Ozzie Guillen was not happy with the way his team is hitting.  I think that Zito will continue to frustrate the Marlins and the Giants will come out on top today.

Pick: Giants
